God's Dangerous Adventure

Advent Retreat

God's Dangerous Adventure

The word “advent” quietly hides in the word “adventure.” Advent means arrival, and the word adventure, from the same etymological roots,  is built on it. Both words evoke a feeling of expectation. It’s safe to say that God’s arrival on Earth when God took on human flesh and became one of us, was the greatest cosmic adventure of all time. But why was it dangerous? What risks did God assume? What risks do we assume as we seek to follow the One who arrived?

Come and explore these questions with us this Advent season. The retreat will be led by Joyce Denham, the leader of our Sunday Compass class, the Rev. Christy Stang, our Assistant Rector, and Jimmy Barnett, our Minister for Youth and Young Adults. The day will feature a variety of activities including talks by Joyce, singing and worship, time for reflection, and large and small group discussion. Parishioner Patrice McFarlane is also offering a yoga class prior to the retreat which is a great way to calm your mind and get into the spirit of the day.

The event is open to all adults and we welcome you to invite your family and friends to join us in this adventure.
