Children’s & Family Ministry at St. Stephen’s provides programs that are designed with kids in mind! All children experience safe, age-appropriate activities where the Bible is taught in a creative and relevant way.
NURSERY CARE (birth-age 3)
Our professionally staffed nursery provides a safe and nurturing environment where you can confidently leave your child to enjoy worship and spiritual formation opportunities with a sense of security. We take great care to prepare our space for your little ones with age appropriate toys and opportunities to interact with other children. We look forward to welcoming your family this Sunday.
Available: Sundays, 8:45am-12:15pm, Nursery rooms adjacent to Church Sanctuary
Children’s Chapel (potty trained preschoolers-grade 2)
Our Children’s Chapel meets during the 9:00 and 11:15 am Sunday service and provides an opportunity for kids to come together across age groups to experience exciting, creative and fun worship created just for them! Kids can be dropped off in the rooms across from the nursery prior to the 9am service to enjoy a worship experience created just for them. Kids rejoin their families during the Peace to share in Holy Communion.
Meets: Sundays, 9:00am
Sunday Club (potty-trained 3 yr olds – grade 5) View Our Photo Gallery
Our Sunday Club immerses kids in the intersection between legos, the Bible, imagination and their daily lives. Kids interpret Bible stories through building lego creations, then sharing what they have made and why. Parents are encouraged to take photos of their kids’ creations, and will receive cards with “wondering questions” they can continue to explore with their kids throughout the week.
Meets: Sundays, 10:10-11:00, Lower level of Office Wing
Journey (grades 3-5)
Through physical play, crafts, and storytelling grounded in Christian tradition, older elementary school children will learn to explore faith through the metaphor of a journey – one that is constantly growing, challenging, and changing. Like Abraham and Sarah setting out for unknown territory upon receiving God’s call, the people of Israel following Moses out of slavery and into the wilderness, and the disciples leaving everything to follow Jesus, children will learn what it means to follow God wherever God leads them.
Meets: Wednesdays, 6:45-8:10pm (Ark Rooms)
Worship Ministry Opportunities for Kids
Children are an integral part of worship services at St. Stephen’s. Learn more about how your child can participate in activities such as serving as an Acolyte and singing in a choir.

Vacation Bible School (age 4-grade 5)
Each summer kids from St. Stephen’s and the surrounding neighborhood gather for a week long adventure-filled dive into God’s word. Our themes change annually and are always filled with stories, music, games and crafts that are perfect for busy youngsters.
Volunteers are at the heart of our children’s programs – we wouldn’t be able to function without them. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers! We take a personal approach and will accommodate your availability and find just the right spot for you.
