Safe Church Practices

CONTACT: Rev. Lisa Wiens Heinsohn

St. Stephen’s cares deeply about the safety of the children and families we serve. We follow the Episcopal Church in Minnesota (ECMN) Safe Church Policies and Procedures for the protection, safety, and well-being of children and adults involved in the life and ministries of our congregation. The intention of these policies and procedures is to establish and maintain a safe place for all our parishioners.

These practices include education and training requirements, as well as background checks, for all staff and volunteers prior to working with children, youth or on pastoral care teams in our parish.

DATE: Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm     REGISTER ONLINE

This training is designed to prevent and children, youth and adults from sexual abuse, misconduct and abuse of power, to offer ways to intervene when misconduct is suspected, and to equip all parish leaders and members ways to heal and rebuild the body of Christ. This training is required once every five years for all clergy, vestry members, persons who have keys to the church building, staff and volunteers who teach or supervise children, and staff and volunteers who provide pastoral care to children, youths and adults. There is no cost for the event but we welcome free will offerings to cover the cost of the seminar.
