Lent Madness

Start plotting your strategy for Lent Madness 2017! Who will win the Golden Halo? Lent Madness pits 32 saints in a "holy smackdown" for the prize, and you will decide the winner. St. Stephen's runs their own competition (see the results from last year at Lent Madness Command Central) so the stakes are (not really) high! The process to participate is simple. Visit Lent Madness Command Central in the Gathering Space to pick up a bracket or you can print one online. Simply fill out the bracket and return it to Lent Madness Command Central by March 1. Results will be tallied and shared regularly throughout Lent until the winners emerge!

The Way of the Cross

A service of evening prayer with an artistically inspired pilgrimage though the stained glass of St. Stephen’s Church (Sanctuary)
During the service we will pause at different sections of stained glass for brief reflection and prayer as we walk the pilgrim’s way. The devotion known as the Way of the Cross is an adaptation to local usage of a custom widely observed by pilgrims to Jerusalem: the offering of prayer at a series of places in that city traditionally associated with Jesus’ passion and death. This service is meant to honor and remember those pilgrimages by our processing to several stained glass windows here, at St. Stephen’s Church, that echo significant events in the last hours of Jesus’ life.

Did God Kill Jesus? A Conversation on the Atonement with Tony Jones

Adult Forum | Commons Room
St. Stephen's is pleased to welcome theological provocateur and author of Did God Kill Jesus?, Dr. Tony Jones, for a two-part series on March 12 and 19. Reading the book prior to attending is not required but does provide a very good study in the historical and contemporary thought on what Jones calls history's “most famous execution.” Read more about Dr. Tony Jones
