Mardi Gras Celebration

Sunday, February 11 | 3:00 PM | COST: Free

Join us in a community celebration of Mardi Gras! While Mardi Gras is strongly associated with secular festivals, the original intent of the holiday is much different. “Fat Tuesday”, as it is known in English, is a long-standing tradition that marks the last day of ordinary time before the start of Lent, a time of fasting and repentance. We are excited to hold this pre-Lenten celebration again this year as we kick off our journey into Easter.

Our choir will be joining with others this spring for another performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In celebration, our Mardi Gras concert this year will have a decided New York twist. Come hear a variety of music including selections from West Side Story and songs of Manhattan Transfer. The choir will also share portions of the composition, Jubilate Deo, which they will perform in NYC in April.

We are pleased to welcome a special guest artist who will bring his amazing marimba sound to the celebration.

Following the show will we enjoy Mardi Gras inspired food and drink in the Gathering Space. This is a GREAT event for the entire family and special activities will be available for kids.

This is a great chance to meet new people, celebrate the tradition of Mardi Gras and discover the celebratory side of this dynamic congregation! The event is free and open to all.
