Children and Youth

Vocal Groups

 

Alleluia Choir (age 3 – 1st grade).  Alleluia Choir introduces pre-reading and early elementary children to the basics of music through creative movement, pitch matching, rhythm games, and other playtime adventures. The Alleluia Choir sings for worship several times a year.

Cantori (2nd – 12th grade). Cantori choristers sing regularly at the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m services. Choristers are taught the basics of being a choir by learning musical notation, sight singing, ear training, music theory and part singing through the Voice for Life curriculum of the Royal School of Church Music. Cantori choristers will take part in the Episcopal Youth Music Festival at St. Mark’s Cathedral and sing at other special events. Many take part in the Episcopal Youth Music Camp held every summer.

Instrumental Groups

 

First Ring (beginner/intermediate). This bell choir for young musicians teaches the beginning basics of handbell ringing in a fun setting, complete with games and other surprises. First Ring plays on select Sundays and holidays through the year and at the annual Children’s Music Ministry Spring Concert.
Rehearsals: Weds. 5:45-6:15 pm, in the Commons Room.

CHIME (intermediate/advanced). CHIME (Children’s Handbells Inspiring Musical Excellence) provides a more challenging program of bell ringing for the more experienced older student ringer. In addition to playing on the same days as First Ring, CHIME has several additional performance opportunities through the year, including the annual Episcopal Youth Music Festival.  Rehearsals: Weds. 6:15-6:45 pm, in the Commons Room.
