Every child. Every meal. ™
The Sheridan Story is a metro-wide nonprofit that provides weekend food bags for local school children. St. Stephen’s partners with the organization and sponsors Susan Lindgren Elementary School in St. Louis Park, which borders Edina.
Approximately 40% of Susan Lindgren’s students receive lunch subsidies, and many of those families do not have reliable sources of food when school is not in session. Because of the generosity of our community, approximately 50 Susan Lindgren students will go home Friday afternoons with food to get them through the weekend, returning on Monday morning to school ready to learn.
“It takes the whole community to address a problem as significant as child hunger.”
How can you help?
St. Stephen’s sends teams of volunteers to Susan Lindgren school on Friday mornings at 8:00 AM to deliver the food bags to classrooms. This only takes one hour. Although this work does not allow for direct contact with the students, there are additional volunteer opportunities with the school, let us know! Interested? Contact Mary Tomback, 612.817.6885.
