Shoe Away Hunger– a program of Good in the ‘Hood, and a recent recipient of an St. Stephen’s Outreach Committee grant — takes gently-used donated shoes, and sells them for a suggested donation at their Mobile Shoe Store. For each pair of shoes sold, they provide a week’s worth of food for one person through their Feeding The Future programs. It’s an amazing way to eliminate hunger locally on a “Shoe-String Budget!”
To help the cause, St. Stephen’s will be hosting a Shoe Drive from May 6 through May 20.
How do you donate?
1. Gather any gently-used (new shoes are welcomed too!) footwear including sneakers, sports shoes, casual shoes, boots, clogs, dressy shoes, etc. Encourage your friends, relatives and neighbors to do the same!
2. Bring your donations to church and drop them in one of the two collection barrels. It’s just that easy!
So, get that spring cleaning done and help us Shoe Away Hunger!
