Our goal is to help our young people, who have become members by their baptism, to understand and appreciate their Christian faith. We desire to help them continue their faith journey and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord through Confirmation.
Confirmation preparation gives each youth a time for questioning and clarification. It is our intention that our young people will experience the Church as a safe place - a community of mutual trust where life issues (eg. peers, family, school, temptations, etc.) are shared in an honest atmosphere. Young people and leaders learn together within this supportive community.
Through Confirmation preparation young people become much more aware of prayer, worship, and of experiencing God through one another and their leaders. They come together as a group to have fun, to care for one another, and to deal constructively with their conflicts. We help them deal with life's tough circumstances and problems by teaching them to turn those situations over to God and trust Him.
Throughout the year the young people develop a friendship with their leaders whom they look to for guidance and a listening ear. The adult leaders are committed to St. Stephen's and their own personal faith. Because of this, they often act as role models for the youth.
