St. Stephen’s, a vibrant faith community of 250 households in a suburb of Minneapolis, seeks a Minister for Youth and Young Adults to join our staff team. The Minister for Youth and Young Adults will work on the program staff team, along with the Minister for Children and Families and Minister for Communications and Community Engagement, led by the Assistant Rector. The Minister for Youth and Young Adults will be tasked with planning and implementing programs for youth in grades 6-12 including Wednesday night formation, Confirmation, special Youth Events, summer events, and programs, as well as retreats and mission experiences throughout the school year and during the summer. The Minister for Youth and Young Adults will also recruit, train, and equip, leaders for programs for youth in grades 6-12, plan and implement young adult events throughout the year, and will work with the Program Staff Team to plan and support community-wide events throughout the year. In addition, St. Stephen’s plans and hosts two Teens Encounter Christ weekends each school year, and the Minister for Youth and Young Adults will serve on the planning team with the aim to serve as the Director of the TEC program after the first year of ministry (we don’t want to ask too much at once!)
When we imagine our Minister for Youth and Young Adults we imagine someone grounded in the Episcopal tradition with a mature faith and the ability to articulate their sense of Christian identity. We are seeking someone who is a team player, who can communicate in a timely and effective manner with parents and youth leaders, and who will enjoy developing individual relationships with youth, young adults, youth parents, and youth leaders. We seek someone who is excited about sharing the Gospel, living their faith, and encouraging and forming youth and young adults into joyful followers of Jesus. Overall we imagine someone who brings maturity, planning and communication skills, humor, joy, their own gifts and talents, and a deep sense of love for God and God’s people as they join our staff and dive into life with St. Stephen’s Church.
