Our recent Children’s & Youth Ministry outreach service night was truly an all-parish affair! Donations from across the parish, a $500 grant from the St. Stephen’s Outreach Committee, and the boundless energy of our children and youth made for a wonderful event with a big impact for many in our greater community.
Kids packaged up several hundred bags filled with mittens, scarves, hats, and socks for children and adults as well as personal care packages stuffed with toiletries and first aid necessities. These packages were delivered to our partners at First Nations Kitchen and Casa Maria who will in turn be sharing these packs with their guests in the coming weeks.
Our partners at VEAP have recently revived their Birthday Bag ministry and kids had a great time decorating birthday bags and filling them with all the essentials for a party including cake mix, frosting, candles, napkins, and party favors.
Our team also made warm and comfy fleece tie blankets. These are very much in need and were delivered urgently to our partners at Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative‘s new community, Bimosedaa. Bimosedaa, Ojibwe for “Let’s walk together”, is located in downtown Minneapolis offering “48 homes with culturally-relevant support services tailored toward members of the Native community.”
We are so grateful to all of those who made donations and to the families who came out to have fun while doing great work for our greater Twin Cities community. Thanks!
