ABOUT HOLDEN EVENING PRAYER

Holden Evening Prayer is a sung prayer service that is commonly used in the Lutheran Church. It was composed by Marty Haugen, a Minnesota native and graduate of Luther College. Holden Evening Prayer was originally written for Holden Village, a remote wilderness community that is grounded in the Lutheran tradition, located in the North Cascade mountains in Washington state. It was written in 1986, with an updated version being published in 2016 to include new instrument parts. The service is led by a cantor, with the congregation participating in the service heavily. It is a beautiful service that is applicable in every season.
