Big adventures or small moments—Flat Saint Stephen is ready to go.
Flat Saint Stephen is inspired by the beloved school project Flat Stanley, which encourages kids to explore the world and connect with others in creative ways. Just like Flat Stanley sparks curiosity about new places and people, Flat Saint Stephen is a joyful reminder that God’s presence goes with us—wherever life takes us.
Our Flat Saint Stephen was designed by Missy Greene, our Minister for Children, Youth & Families. He may look familiar to the kids of our parish—he’s part of the same creative spirit behind the Bible stories Missy writes, illustrates, and shares in Children’s Chapel and other Children’s Ministry programs. But this Saint Stephen isn’t just for kids—everyone is invited to join in the fun!
HOW IT WORKS
Pick up your Flat Saint Stephen from the bulletin board in the Commons Room hallway or in the office. Then take Flat Saint Stephen along on your summer adventures—whether you’re traveling far away or enjoying simple moments close to home.
Snap photos of your travels and share them with us! Email your pictures to mgreene@ststephens.com or tag us on social media.
Flat Saint Stephen has already traveled to the Olympics in Italy, chilled on the beach in Sri Lanka, and even had an audience with the Presiding Bishop! Where will you take him?
Check out the Flat Saint Stephen Photo Album to see where he’s already been—and to follow along as new adventures are added all summer long.
When we return in the fall, we’ll celebrate all his adventures—and maybe even share a few prizes for categories like…
- Most people in a photo with Flat Saint Stephen
- Highest elevation
- Farthest distance traveled
- Best local adventure (close to home!)
- Most creative photo
- Funniest moment
This is a fun, meaningful way to remember that God is always with us—wherever we go, whatever we do—and to stay connected as a church family throughout the summer. It’s also a great conversation starter to share God’s love with others along the way!
