As part of St. Stephen’s 90th anniversary celebration, we’re creating a parish cookbook filled with recipes from across our church family. Dear God, What’s for Dinner? will be more than a collection of things to cook—it will be a snapshot of the foods, stories, traditions and people that make up life with St. Stephen’s Church.
We’re in the final stretch of collecting recipes for our 90th anniversary parish cookbook and we would love to have even more of our church family represented in the book. Please consider submitting a recipe by our final deadline of September 15.
WHY A CHURCH COOKBOOK?
As recipes have been coming in, we’re seeing what makes a church cookbook so special: the stories behind the recipes.
Some recipes have been passed down through generations. Some are beloved holiday traditions. Others are simply the tried-and-true meals that make busy weeknights a little easier. Together, they reflect the people, traditions and hospitality that make our church family special.
Currently, we need about 80 more recipes.
We know some people may hesitate to submit because they don’t consider themselves much of a cook—or wonder whether their recipe is “special” enough. But we’re not looking for fancy recipes. We’re looking for the real ones you actually make and love. Every recipe is a treasure.
Gathering around a table is an important part of life with St. Stephen’s—a way we share God’s abundance, offer hospitality and show our love for one another. This cookbook brings that spirit of our shared table into our own kitchens through the recipes and stories of our community.
We have a wonderful collection of main dishes and sweets, and we’d especially love more recipes for vegetables, salads, soups, appetizers, breads & muffins, and beverages. If you have a favorite recipe, please share it. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It just has to be loved.
