Compass: Praying with the Celts

Compass: Praying with the Celts

The early Celtic Christians in Ireland and Scotland left us a powerful model for prayer. They prayed throughout each day, from sunup to sundown, chanting and singing prayers for the smallest activities of life, reminding them of God’s continual presence. Many of their prayers were recorded, which means that we can still employ them today—or write our own, using them as examples. In this session, we’ll experience the rhythm of Celtic-style prayer and be given several prayers to take with us.

Adult Forum presents Compass

Compass, led by Joyce Denham, is our Sunday morning Adult Formation class in which we study the literature of the Bible as our compass for life. Compass is for everyone at St. Stephen’s, and beyond. Invite others! It’s a place to make friends, laugh, and stretch our minds, as Joyce unravels the narratives and poetry of the Bible to discover what they have to say to us today. No registration is needed.
