Guarding, Protecting, Serving: A Biblical Perspective on Ministry
What does it mean to minister, to have a ministry or to be a minister? Where does this very “churchy” idea of ministry come from?
It turns out, ministry is stitched into the Bible’s larger story, from Genesis through Revelation. As humans, each of us is divinely called to ministry—to guard, protect and serve God’s Creation. But why is that calling important? What does it look like? And what does it mean for our own lives?
In this Compass session, Joyce Denham will help us explore the biblical foundations of ministry and what they might mean for the ways each of us lives out our faith. This conversation begins a month-long exploration of ministry through Adult Formation at St. Stephen’s.

Sunday Adult Formation has a fresh rhythm as it returns this fall. Each month centers around a theme, with Sunday mornings offering different ways to explore it through Scripture and theology, conversation, guest voices and reflection.
Throughout each month, Compass offers an opportunity to explore the theme through a biblical and theological lens. Know Your Neighbors welcomes guest speakers from our local—and sometimes not-so-local—community to bring new voices, experiences and perspectives to the conversation. Fr. Tom Cook and Rev. Christy Stang also lead one or more sessions, creating space to dig deeper, ask questions and reflect together.

October 25 // Forum with Tom & Christy
Fr. Tom and Rev. Christy bring the month’s conversations together for a forum exploring the Ministry of All the Baptized and what it means for our lives at St. Stephen’s and beyond.
