December 21, 2023 //
In January 2024, parishioner Jim Bizal and the Rev. Tom Cook will lead a team of twelve people on another mission trip to Holy Cross School in Belize. As part of our trip, we are raising funds for four new air conditioner units for the school computer lab, library, the principal’s office, and the new housing for the school’s priest.
Members and Friends of St. Stephen’s Church –
Last year, through our parish’s generous donations we raised the money to purchase new appliances for the school kitchen including a commercial range, two chest freezers, a deep fryer, a ninja blender, a microwave, and ceiling fans for the kitchen and dining hall. All of the items were being used within minutes of being plugged in, and I am happy to say are still being used to feed the students and all of the staff.
Following this fundraising success, we are hoping to work our St. Stephen’s magic again. The current air conditioner units are from 2008, but three of the four no longer work and another is barely hanging on. We also need to add a unit to our newest structure, “House of Grace,” that will be the “Rectory” for our first on-campus priest, who we are actively recruiting as I write. S/he will serve as priest for the school and the new church/community center for which we just broke ground 2 weeks ago.
Please consider helping us raise the money needed for these air conditioning units. The goal is to raise $20,000.00 for the purchase, delivery, installation, and provision of a modest maintenance reserve fund. Every dollar matters and all donation amounts are welcome!
