Youth (grades 6-12)

Connecting with others through a church community is vitally important to the faith development of young people.  Our programs help junior and senior high students understand the love of God, appreciate what it means to be a community of faith, and undertake their own spiritual journey.  Joining the Youth programs is something young people at St. Stephen’s look forward to!

Prism: 6th & 7th Grade is a great place for you to meet other students who are Christians -Just Like You! At Prism we like to hangout and talk about the ups and downs of junior high life. We play great (sometimes messy!) games while learning about God in a fun and interactive way. We use the Pulse curriculum, supplemented with interactive media and speakers, to help deal with some of the issues facing you on a daily basis, like friends, family, homework, and peer pressure. We also offer great special events such as retreats, all-grade events, ski trips, and much more. You are always encouraged to bring friends to Prism! You do not need to be a member of St. Stephen’s to attend. Prism meets between September – May on Sunday mornings from 10:15-11:00am in the Youth Room AND Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:30 in the Gathering Space.

Confirmation: 8th & 9th Grade is designed to help our young people, who have become members by their baptism, to understand and appreciate their Christian faith. Confirmation preparation gives each youth a time for questioning and clarification. It is our intention that our young people will experience the Church as a community of mutual trust where life issues (e.g., peers, family, school, temptations, etc.) are shared in an honest atmosphere. Through Confirmation preparation, young people become much more aware of prayer, worship, and of experiencing God through one another and their leaders. We help them deal with life’s tough circumstances and problems by teaching them to turn those situations over to God and trust Him. Confirmation meets between September – May on Sunday mornings from 10:15-11:00am in the Youth Room AND on Wednesday nights from 7:15 – 8:30pm. 8th Grade meets in the Youth Room & 9th Grade meets in the Commons Room on Wednesdays.

Spectrum: 10th – 12th Grade provides students in all stages of their faith journey with relevent and challenging programs. Through prayer, Bible study, and discussion, we delve into the issues that face all high school students today. All students have a ”family group” (small group) led by adult and student leaders. This opportunity for both small and large group discussion makes Spectrum the ideal place to delve into important faith issues. Many students, from inside and outside St. Stephen’s, have found a Sunday night home with Spectrum. We hope you will join us! Spectrum meets between September – May on Sunday nights from 6:30 – 8:00pm in the Youth Room.

Working with Children and Youth: St. Stephen’s is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with our Youth Programs. Whether it’s volunteering during the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) weekend, cooking on Wednesday nights, mentoring Confirmation candidates – or any of the other many opportunities available – we need your help!
