Light up our worship!
Acolytes are essential to our worship services. Think about how different our worship would be without young people to carry the cross and torches to help lead the processions. All youth in grades 2-12 are invited to participate in this ministry. Acolyting also has lots of benefits for kids. Here are just a few …
So, why be an acolyte?
- Acolyting is participatory – One of the best ways to keep kids interested in attending worship is to get them actively involved!
- Acolyting is intergenerational – acolytes serve on worship teams with folks of all ages.
- Acolyting builds relationships – kids get to know their peers. Faith is meant to be practiced in community and this is a great way for kids to worship with other kids.
- Acolyting is a family affair – parents, grandparents, and siblings may all serve together in worship ministry. Let’s hear it for family time!
- Acolyting is leadership – this is a great way for younger kids to practice responsibility and for older youth to lead and teach younger kids the ropes.
- Acolyting is flexible – we know families are busy so we’ve made it easy for kids to sign-up according to your family’s schedule.
- Acolyting allows kids to play with fire – Seriously. It’s fun to help light altar candles and light/carry torches but it also teaches kids a healthy respect for fire and how to safely handle the responsibility.
