Compass: The Undiscovered World in the Words We Say – Part 1

Compass: The Undiscovered World in the Words We Say – Part 1

Every Sunday when we gather for worship, what lies before us is this vast and endless world of communion of God. We’re guided into this world by a ritual of words, prayers, scriptures, and music, established centuries ago. But human memories are short, and today as we gather, we often wonder where these words come from, how they’re connected, and what they declare.

In this Compass 2-part series, we’ll discover the profound meanings behind the words and practices that form the backbone of our worship services, and how they can usher us into the ocean of God’s love and presence.

SERIES SCHEDULE

  • Jan 14 – Part 1
  • Jan 21 – Part 2

Can’t join us in person on Sunday mornings? Compass is offered live on ZOOM. Sign up for our weekly emails to receive the ZOOM link and links to video replays of each session.

CHILDREN & YOUTH ACTIVITIES

During our Adult Formation offerings from 9-10 AM on Sunday mornings, our staffed Nursery (upper-level Chapel wing) is open for children from birth to age 3. We also offer supervised Children & Youth Fellowship time in the Children’s Ministry Room just down the hall from where Compass is held.

Adult Forum presents Compass

Compass, led by Joyce Denham, is our Sunday morning Adult Formation class in which we study the literature of the Bible as our compass for life. Compass is for everyone at St. Stephen’s, and beyond. Invite others! It’s a place to make friends, laugh, and stretch our minds, as Joyce unravels the narratives and poetry of the Bible to discover what they have to say to us today. No registration. Just show up on Sunday mornings, 9 a.m., in the Commons Room.
