Lent

Lent

The 40-day season of Lent begins with our annual services of Ash Wednesday. This Holy day invites us to be thoughtful and aware of how finite our lives are. How can we make the most of them by serving the God who so lovingly created us?

The subdued and solemn tone that begins on Ash Wednesday runs through the Lenten season and many people take on practices and activities that encourage prayerful or more conscious contact with God. We have many opportunities through Sunday worship as well as special events and classes for all who want to experience a deeper connection this season.

LENTEN CLASSES & ACTIVITIES

LENT MADNESS

The bracket submission deadline is Ash Wednesday, February 14th!

Lent Madness is a friendly “competition” by which we learn about the saints in the season of Lent. 32 saints are placed into a tournament-like single-elimination bracket. You complete your own bracket with who you think will win each match-up and the results of this Saintly Smackdown unfold throughout Lent.

COMPASS LENTEN SERIES

How to Pray Like Jesus
Sundays, February 18 & 25, March 3 & 10

Join us this Lent at Compass, our Sunday morning adult formation class, for a 4-part series in which we’ll examine The Lord’s Prayer. Why did Jesus tell us to say these particular words? Why in this order? And what do they mean for 21st-century Jesus followers?

LENTEN BOOK STUDY

Enrich your Lenten season by joining us in a book study when together we’ll read, Wondrous Encounters: Scripture for Lent by Richard Rohr. Twice during the Lent this group will meet for discussion and sharing of reflection from using this daily devotional during the season.
