MOPS (Mom’s Group)

MOPS (Mom’s Group)

Our new MOPS Mom’s group launched this fall!

MOPS is an international ministry with groups all across the country. MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, but don’t be fooled by the name. We welcome moms of many stages, from those expecting their first child up to moms of 5th graders. Whether you are a soon-to-be mom, first-time mom, or fourth-time mom, you are welcome at MOPS!

At St. Stephen’s, we have working moms and stay-at-home moms. Moms of multiples, expectant moms, adoptive moms, single moms, and moms who have children spanning toddlerhood to teens. We have moms of all backgrounds and in all stages of their own faith journey.

We are building our MOPS program to be a welcoming place that offers mentorship, honest conversation, and fellowship during this challenging and rewarding season of life. Whether you are an adoptive mom, young mom, seasoned mom, foster mom, stepmom, or any other type of mom, you are welcome here.

What Is MOPS?

MOPS is an international community of women, with children of all ages, going through life together. Moms make the world a better place and MOPS provides welcoming communities where every mother can know she’s not alone on this journey.

When and Where will MOPS meet?

Our MOPS group will meet every other Wednesday (Sept-May) from 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the Chapel, beginning September 27th.  View a full list of the 2023/24 program year MOPS dates here.

Let us cook dinner for you! St. Stephen’s offers community dinner from 5:45-6:30 PM on Wednesday nights. We serve up family-friendly homecooked meals and all are welcome. After dinner, drop your children off at kid’s and youth activities, and then join us for fun and fellowship.

MOPS 2023/24 THEME

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin …
Zechariah 4:10 NLT

Have you ever gotten to the end of a week, month, or year and thought, “How did I get here? Where has the time gone?” It happens in our parenting, friendships, marriage, and work- we get caught up in the urgent demands of the day-to-day, and then years go by, and we realize we haven’t been making the small choices that will get us where we actually wanted to be. So this is the year to make some moves.

SAY “YES.”

It’s amazing how one little word can change your life. But too often, our ‘yeses’ are reserved for default decisions we aren’t even intentionally making or the stuff we feel obligated to do. What if we started saying ‘yes’ to the important things? Yes, to parenting on purpose. Yes, to significant challenges and out-of-your-comfort-zone opportunities. Yes, to your marriage. Invitations to connect with others? Yes, please. Saying yes opens us up to new ways of thinking and helps cultivate a growth mindset.

To clarify, we’re not talking about people-pleasing or over-extending yourself. In fact, it’s the opposite. Developing a ‘yes’ mindset is living intentionally, focused on your goals for yourself and your family. It’s about listening to God’s still, small voice and doing the brave things rather than the easy things.
